A associação Tecelãs de Tocoiós, na comunidade rural de Tocoiós, na cidade de Francisco Badaró (MG), no Vale do Jequitinhonha, existe desde 1985. Com cerca de 30 mulheres, entre fiandeiras e tecelãs, atualmente trabalha com apoio da ONG Mulheres do Jequitinhonha. Todo o trabalho é manual, desde a fiação, passando pelo tingimento natural, até o acabamento e seguindo a tradição de tecelagem que existe na região há décadas. Os fios tecidos se transformam em qualquer tipo de peça têxtil. Roupas de mesa e cama são destaques na produção da associação.

The Tecelãs de Tocoiós association, in the rural community of Tocoiós, in the city of Francisco Badaró (MG), in the Jequitinhonha Valley, has existed since 1985. With around 30 women, including spinners and weavers, it currently works with the support of the NGO Mulheres do Jequitinhonha . All work is manual, from spinning, through natural dyeing, to finishing and following the weaving tradition that has existed in the region for decades. The woven threads are transformed into any type of textile piece. Table and bed linen are highlights of the association’s production.
